“They suffered greatly during the Battle of Weeping Tears and even the Gods feel their pain. Any talk of this will either make the woman start crying or the men to curse in a slur of words. The loss at that faithful battle has forever changed their future and their history. They are careful to never trust again for they fear this could happen all over again. Still to this day the High Elves have trouble sleeping at night because the dreams of the blood of their ancient ancestors still haunt their memories and they wonder will this torture every stop. They believe that their dreams will only stop when there are no more Dark Elves left to roam Alura.”

“In the beginning there were three houses of Elves. Andor, the high and noble High Elves led by Shae Alindae. Finglian, the adventurous and brave wood elves, led by Taeshai Laerdon, and Ilythirii, the magical and intelligent Dark Elves led by Ashandae Maraendis. Although slightly different they kept their peace and worked together to dominate the other races of the world often in wars with Orcs and Goblins never losing a single battle. This peace was too good to last, and soon something would come along to make the houses chose a side.”

“The beginning of the history of the High Elves starts during the Sundering in 477. The Human Kingdoms of Kanlias and Thingon allied itself with the Goblin and Troll nation. Their aim was to end the Elven power that swayed over the land of Alura. The Elves would not stand for this and banded together also forming an alliance with the Dwarves. When the last battle arose in the Valley of Sorrow at the Battle of Weeping Tears the battlefield was overwhelmed with infantry and the other members of each army and it spread out over miles. A trumpet sounded and there was all out hell in the battlefield. The people watched as their friends, families, and their enemies all lay intertwined in a tangle of bodies not even recognizing which was which. The High Elves along with the Elves and Dwarves had held off utter defeat, but it would not be for long they needed help, they were losing numbers way to fast. The High Elves and Elves cried out to Ashandae Maraendis, “Oh mighty brethren, help us! Help us or we shall not see morrow! Why do you refrain?” They watched as their once faithful brother turned his back and marched his army home not even bothering to look back. The remaining Elves were stunned and they did not know what do. They had lost the will to fight there was nothing but depression that echoed throughout the valley. Finally the fight to survive overcame them and they stunned faces left them immediately as they were on the brink of total annihilation. The house of Andor only had 2000 men left and the rest of the races numbers dwindled as well.”

“After the High Elves returned to their town they were extremely mad and planned an attack on the Ilythirii. They invited the house of Finglian to partake in this event, but they declined saying, “Two betrayals is much worse than just one.” The High Elves did not listen to this remark at all and quickly disowned the house of Finglian as well. The plan was finally constructed they were going to purge into the Ilythirii town slaying all of the men and exiling the woman and children and so they did. Upon entering the Ilythirii’s town they cursed them to forever be known as Dark Elves from now until the Gods return. The street ran red with blood and they burned all of the buildings to they were nothing more than ashes and pieces of debris. The High Elves poured salt on to the debris where the Dark Elf town once used to sit.”

“What once was once has now turned in to three. Legend has it that the house of Andor retreated in to seclusion deep in the forests of Alura for many believed them to be extinct for centuries, but their time has come for vengeance and blood. Until lately there residence was unknown but once their numbers grew they let the whole world of Alura know where they are. They have built their new town of Maldor deep within a forest. It has a very elaborate design and the construction is simply superb. They like to show their wealth of to the rest of the world and often the shrines have immaculate rubies encrusted in to it. They are the type of race than wants all eyes on them, but they have lost that aurora since the Sundering.”

“Their hatred of Humans continued and during the year of 527 the Elves launched a raid on the Human Kingdom. Their numbers were small, their weapons outdated, but their heart was in the fight. They gave the Humans are hard fight, but eventually their army was starting to dwindle and they had to return to their homes. The feeling of losing once again to the Humans enraged them. They could not believe their luck, for it seemed the Gods were against them now. They knew know that to slay the Humans it would take more than just their power.”

“Sometime slightly later after 527 the High Elves also faced another hardship to which they did not suspect. The High Elves were greatly saddened over the loss to the Human kingdom again were often found drunk in the streets having had too many Elvish wines. Sometime during the summer of 528 they were even more commonly drunk than ever before and the whole townsfolk even the guards were laying drunk upon the cobblestone. That night many thieves and brigands entered the outpost under the safety of the night with destruction in their minds. They stole from everyone including the old and the young until all the pockets were clear of gold. They even entered the houses looking under beds for gold until they found all they could. After this they set fire to all the important buildings of Maldor until it engulfed them in smoke and then they ran never to enter this town again. The High Elves were even more depressed when they awoke to find this travesty, but they finally realized they could not put their guard down anymore or this could happen again. It was a hard experience to overcome but they finally did with the help of the Elves supplies and all the natural resources that were littered around them.”

“The High Elves knew that to become dominant once again they would have to open up trade among the races. However, they did not trade with Humans, Dark, Elves, or the Goblins for they still held a grudge on them. They did trade with the remaining races of the realm and to their surprise it helped them gain the assets that they could possibly need for war later on. They traded with the Dwarves for extremely sharp steel that upgraded the blades of their sword more than they could have ever envisioned. They even sought out the Vermin who taught them wild battle tactics in turn for shiny rubies and the Gnomes were remarkably accepting of the High Elves and passed on tons of wisdom to them.”

“Until lately the thought of the High Elves and Elves having secret meetings was nothing more than a myth until the Elves told scholars otherwise. The meetings were setup between these races to once again combine two of the three houses. The High Elves wanted the Elves help in regaining elven dominance back from the Humans and exterminate the remaining Dark Elves. The plans were starting to work themselves out and it look like elven dominance would once again rule Alura until the last meeting when the Elves refused to slaughter the Dark Elves replying with the same thought from many years before, “Two betrayals are much worse than one.” The meetings then slowly began to cease the Elves began to give up hope at every reuniting these two houses again.”

“The ears of the High Elves have also heard of the meetings between the encampments of the Dark Elves. Some try to persuade them they are trying to regain the three houses once again, but the High Elves curse their names before they can even finish. After they calm down they say, “Even if Ashandae Maraendis’s himself stood at my feet and kissed them I would still not forgive the Dark Elves. The High Elves are scared, but they will never admit it the fears as they know war is imminent and courage must be shown even at the sure face of death. The High Elves have been seen putting magical enchantments around their homelands to protect them from invasion and the training program for infantry has become so intense that the only produce fine quality soldiers. This has caused the entire races of the realm of Alura to began to mass produce soldiers and weapons as they fear that this will be a war far more worse than even the Sundering.”
